Big Bear Lake is known for
it’s fishing. The lake is regularly stocked with rainbow
trout and we know where the fish are biting.
If you’re
bringing you own boat, make sure to have a California boat
permit. The Maximum boat length is 26 feet. Maximum lake
speed is 35 mph. The lake is patrolled throughout the summer
months.
There are two public boat launches on the north
shore of Big Bear Lake. On is located on the west end on
one on
the east side near
Stanfield Cutoff. Both launches have offices where you can
purchase boat permits. Boats going into the lake are
regularly checked for
mussels.
Fishing from the Dam is prohibited. Fishing
from the shore is fine. Some fishermen get up early and sit
on either
the
north or south
side of the Dam. The water is colder, allowing for higher
oxygen levels.
Both public boat launches have places for
fishing. There is ample shoreline for Easy Up’s and
a picnic linch.
You can also park your car on either side
of Stanfield
Cutoff and cast your line. You’ll have to get
there early to get a good parking space.
The are several
marinas in the area if you need a boat
rental. Trolling Fishermen need to display a white
flag.
